From Healthcare.gov "Health insurance plans must provide breastfeeding support, counseling, and equipment for the duration of breastfeeding. These services may be provided before and after birth."
If it were only that simple.
As an in-network lactation consultant with United Healthcare (UHC), Aetna and any subsidiary of these companies, I’m happy to offer virtual and office visits that are fully covered by your insurance — with no cost to your family.
This includes both prenatal and postpartum breastfeeding support for parents and babies. Home visits will incur an addition travel fee.
If your insurance plan isn’t listed above, you’ll find self-pay pricing on my Booking page.
Payment is due in full at the time of service, and you’re welcome to submit for reimbursement directly with your insurance company afterward. Many families with BCBS, Cigna, Anthem and others receive partial or full reimbursement, though some plans may not cover out-of-network lactation care or require to meet your out of network deductible in order to get reimbursed.
If you’re hoping to get reimbursed (and who isn't, am I right), it’s best to check with your insurance company before booking. Since coverage varies, I can’t guarantee reimbursement or issue any refunds for non-covered visits. After our appointment, I’ll give you a superbill— a detailed invoice you can send to your insurance for potential reimbursement.
For self-pay families, I accept FSA/HSA cards, cash, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Zelle and Venmo.
I always recommend using the credit card that gives you the most points or money back!
If finances are an issue and your insurance company is giving you an issue, a sliding scale can be offered for virtual visits only.
